How Triangulmate finds a fair meeting point
Triangulmate is a transit midpoint calculator for groups. Instead of dropping a pin on the geographic middle of a map, it routes every address with live public transport and walking directions, then keeps only the restaurants, bars and activities that are genuinely convenient for everyone.
1. Every address is geocoded and routed
Each participant enters a starting address and the way they prefer to travel — walking, bus, train, car or taxi. Candidate venues around the travel-time midpoint are routed from every origin for the exact date and departure time you pick, so rush hour and late-night service gaps are reflected in the result.
2. Fairness, walking and travel-time limits
A venue is only recommended when the walk stays under 10 minutes, total door-to-door travel stays under your chosen limit (default 30 minutes), and no two people differ by more than the fairness gap you set (default 5 minutes). Rail routes are requested before buses, and journeys that force one person through several transfers while another rides a single line are pushed down the list.
3. Venues are scored, not just filtered
Every surviving option gets a 0–100 rating built from how even the travel times are, total journey length, journey simplicity, Google review quality, walking distance, and how well the venue fits your cuisine, price, occasion and dietary filters. You can tell Triangulmate what matters most — fairness, venue quality, or taxi and parking cost — and the weighting changes accordingly.
4. Booking, parking and rides
Where Google confirms a venue accepts reservations, Triangulmate links to the booking service with your party size, date and time pre-filled. Drivers get nearby garages with estimated rates folded into their travel analysis, and taxi users get Uber and Lyft deep-links.
Common questions
Is this the same as a halfway-point map?
No. A geographic halfway point often lands somewhere with poor transit. Triangulmate measures time, not distance, so the meeting spot can sit well off the straight line between addresses if that is faster for everyone.
Does it work for more than two people?
Yes. Add as many starting addresses as you need, or share a group plan link so each person submits their own address, travel mode and preferences before the results are aggregated.
